About CKC

For the summer of 2011, Chicago Kids Company is proud to offer our Summer Musical Theatre Camp for kids ages 9 to 15, from
July 18 - July 29, 2011.

Summer Musical Theatre Camp:
Ages 10 to 15

On the first day of camp, we will discuss the play and the characters. We will talk about the scenery, the costumes, and the props. We will play theatre games, and get to know each other. At the end of the day we will hold an informal "audition" to determine who will play each role in the show.

The next few days are packed with rehearsals for the show: each child will learn acting, singing, and dancing. Some children will have the "leading" roles, and some will have only a few lines. In addition to rehearsing the show, everyone will be involved with designing and painting the scenery, building the props, and creating the costumes. Along the way, we take time to play games, go to the park, eat popsicles, and have a ton of fun!

On the first show day, we start the day with our final dress rehearsal on the stage. CKC hires professional lighting and sound technicians, hair & make-up artists, and a full backstage crew to create a fully professional final performance. After the rehearsals are over, we take a "pizza dinner" break...and get ready for the show. That evening Parents, Grandparents, relatives, neighbors, and friends are invited to watch the final performance!

On the final day of camp we’ll start with a farewell party. We'll watch the Video of the show, and discuss the overall experience. We'll play more games, sign each other's T-shirts, and exchange email addresses. That evening we’ll do the show one more time.
